About the job

This is an exciting opportunity to sing with one of London’s top professional church choirs. The successful candidates will be professional singers possessing a very high level of sight-reading ability and musicianship, with the vocal versatility and technique to cope with a demanding range of repertoire from all periods, often as part of a small ensemble or as a solo voice. 

Each position entails two Sunday services and numerous specials throughout the year. The current rates are £63 for each Sunday and occasional Church service (Maundy Thursday etc) and £111 for Special Services such as weddings, memorials, funerals and carol services. In 2019 there were 38 of these, and in 2021 there were 29 between July and December. Many of these services are of a high-profile nature arising from the church’s role as the Church for Fleet Street and the Media World. There are also occasional concerts and outside bookings. Please be aware that this job does involve singing in a very wide range of musical styles and you will be required to do a significant amount of solo work in all genres. 

The successful candidates will be two of three regular tenors. We expect a commitment of 75% to the job and the first priority is to Sunday services. All members of the choir are expected to be at St Bride’s when they are free to sing on a Sunday and may not sing elsewhere without the express permission of the Director of Music. You will be required to book your own deputies from an approved list and to maintain your booking record using an online booking system.
