Assistant Director of Music

Salary: Teachers’ MPS/UPS, plus TLR 2b allowance

The successful candidate will have high expectations of pupils, experience of teaching a broad range of abilities to include A Level Music, be a confident, performing musician and willing to contribute extensively to the musical life of the School. The successful candidate will be supported fully in their career and professional development.

 

This is an opportunity to join one of the most successful and high-profile school Music departments in the country. The Vaughan’s Schola Cantorum boys choir, is prominent in London’s professional musical life. More than four hundred instrumental and singing lessons are given each week and there are a wide variety of ensembles and orchestras. Academic music is strong, with large numbers of pupils choosing to study music at both GCSE and A Level (there are currently 24 A Level Music students). The School has an impressive tradition of pupils winning Organ and Choral Awards at Oxbridge (six places to read Music at Oxford in the last two years) with many students continuing their musical studies at university.

 

The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School has a strong Catholic ethos, a pan-London intake, a tradition of outstanding academic outcomes and a strong regard for good behaviour, self-discipline and self-improvement among its pupils, whatever their background or ability.
