Steel City Choristers is seeking a talented musician to be the Director of Music of its innovative choir, which serves a wide range of churches and other communities around Sheffield through a diverse programme of services, concerts and projects; and runs singing workshops in schools.
Rooted in the English choral tradition, our choir is made up of boys and girls 6-18, including boys with changing voices, and adults with excellent sight reading skills.
Your musical expertise and love of the English choral tradition will be key to maintaining and developing the quality of the music education we deliver and the high standard to which we sing. You will have sufficient keyboard skills to lead rehearsals without an additional accompanist. Your vision, passion and expertise will help take Steel City Choristers into the next chapter of its exciting journey. If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!
You will lead 4.5 hours of regular rehearsals per week in term and a variety of performances, mainly at weekends. Ideally, you will also be available during the week to deliver singing workshops in schools. Total fees will be in the region of £10,000 to £12,000 pa.
