About the job

Following Alex Hodgkinson’s move to a significant role at St. Theresa’s Church, Trumbull, Connecticut, we are looking for a Director of Music to lead in this area of the School from September 2023 or sooner, if possible. They should be an inspirational and passionate musician who is committed to making a difference for young people from all backgrounds.  

The School boasts one of the largest and most successful music departments in the country.   This Director of Music is central to the School and the pupils’ lives, and with every child regularly involved in the subject in some way through their week, it represents a unique opportunity. It will suit a leader who is emotionally intelligent, diplomatic, creative, and resilient, with excellent judgement, strong communication skills, integrity, and sensitivity to the complexities of working with young people.    

The successful candidate may have experience as an educator already or may also come from professional music background: we would welcome applicants from the industry. Above all else their personal qualities, musicianship and commitment will be more important than the context of their professional career to date.

To make this possible, we can offer onsite accommodation if needed. Salary is commensurate with experience and paid in accordance with the generous Christs’ Hospital Teachers’ from £48,341 - £62,203 per annum depending on experience.
