City of London School is looking to appoint an inspirational and creative professional to lead its thriving Music Department from September 2020. The Department is very successful and the School has a deserved reputation for musical excellence. The School has a long-standing record of high academic achievement (92.5% of A Level and Pre U entries gained A* to B/D1-M1 grades in 2019) and there is also much happening in terms of extra-curricular activities. We expect all staff to be fully involved in School life.  

The successful candidate will be an excellent musician, with a strong track record of teaching and/or musical direction at all levels. They will also be determined to enthuse young people – from diverse backgrounds and with differing levels of musical expertise – in the joy of music, and the potential that it offers for both educational achievement and personal development. 

The post will involve teaching Music to years 6 – 13. Experience in a position of responsibility to date in their present school is advantageous.

The School occupies fine, modern buildings near St. Paul’s Cathedral overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tate Modern as well as owning impressive Off-Site Sports Facilities in South East London.
