Job background/context:

The PMF was founded in 2015 to make available a high-quality choral musical education to children in Pimlico, an area which includes considerable poverty as well as pockets of affluence. Rooted firmly in the English choral tradition, the Foundation does this via in-schools work, a Children’s Choir, a smaller group of Foundation Scholars, and an Adult Chorus. PMF has started to develop some of the community engagement programmes listed in its recently-agreed Strategic Plan. Teaching is carried out by an expert group of specialist Teacher-Singers. The charity’s success over the first six years of its existence is shown in the excellent levels of participation among local children from all ethnic and social backgrounds, and their parents.

The PMF’s vision for the next five years is that all children in Pimlico should have access to a high-quality choral and musical education and the support they need to pursue that education throughout their school careers. The PMF aims to achieve this by expanding operations to include all local primary schools, creating a communication strategy to extend the charity’s reach across the community, strengthening the identity of the Children’s Choir and the Adult Chorus, and implementing a fundraising strategy to reduce dependence on grants from trusts and foundations and increase corporate support (current operational costs are £160k pa). We are looking for an exceptional individual to take up the post of General Manager to help us achieve these goals.
