West Sussex Music is seeking a dedicated, dynamic and experienced visiting music teacher to join a specialist team that provides high quality support to Percussion and Drum Kit teachers across West Sussex. 

This new role involves regular teaching responsibilities in an area of the County, at a Saturday morning Music Centre and one day per week of leadership time.

You will have the opportunity to enhance and develop your career within a forward-thinking music hub and be involved with all areas of our educational delivery. This includes ensemble & sectional direction, together with a mix of beginner, intermediate and youth level tuition, in addition to WCET first access programmes, as well as supporting the development of West Sussex Music’s renowned County Ensembles and enrichment programme for gifted and talented students.

This post may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following essential attributes:

  • Outstanding and creative orchestral percussion practitioner with high expectations for pupils and colleagues
  • A confident instrumental performer
  • Ability to direct instrumental ensembles at all ability levels
  • Belief in the benefits of an holistic approach to music education
  • Effective communicator with colleagues, schools and pupils
  • Highly organised, hardworking and a professional role model
