From November 2020 (or as soon as possible thereafter), Heath Mount School is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational Lower Brass Teacher to join our vibrant Music Department.

The successful candidate will join a team of Wind and Brass Teachers, providing individual tuition to children from Year 1 to 8.  The role will start with two hours of tuition, with the potential to increase with demand.

Heath Mount is an outstanding co-educational Prep School set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside.  Childhoods are cherished at Heath Mount, and children are nurtured with the opportunities to explore their talents and deepen their learning.  Heath Mount has an international reputation for music, with an award-winning choir and high achieving instrumentalists and ensembles.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent playing skills, be experienced in teaching at all levels, from beginner to Grade 8, and have a keen interest in assisting the development of brass players within the School; the role includes preparing pupils for concerts, examinations and auditions.  The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for the subject, with the ability to generate enthusiasm and encourage technical and musical development, thus maintaining the high standards achieved by pupils.


It is the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact.  The post holder will adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding policy at all times.  If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or in his absence, one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.


Salary: this is a self-employed post, £20.50 per 30-minute lesson
