Canterbury Cathedral is the cathedral of the archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Located in Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site.
As an Organ Scholar you will be expected to attend all rehearsals and services when on duty and will take a share of the organ playing at these, generally playing for Evensong on Fridays, (10hours/week, plus special services and events) and offer an additional 7hours/week to the Cathedral in further playing and supporting our musical work through outreach and administration.
The Organ Scholar would have the rest of the week free to build their experience and work on their own professional projects, making the most of the many opportunities that Canterbury has to offer.
Canterbury is well connected to London with a fast train (55mins into St Pancras) and is an ideal place to begin a professional musical career.
You should also upload a digital file of you playing a piece of your choice (maximum 5 minutes) as a YouTube video. This can be published as unlisted if you wish. You must provide a link to your video on the application
