Applications are encouraged for the post of Organist at Holy Trinity, Kentish Town. This will be an opportunity to work at a high level in a relaxed and happy environment, and would suit someone keen to improve their skills as a liturgical organist, improviser, accompanist, and choral director.
Holy Trinity is a parish church with a strong Catholic tradition, and music is greatly valued by clergy and congregation. The Organist’s primary role will be to play for Mass on a Sunday morning, working with the friendly and enthusiastic voluntary choir. At present, they sing at two masses per month (leading the congregational mass and simple plainchant propers, and also singing two motets), but it is hoped that the successful applicant will grow and expand on this. It would be ideal if they were able to lead one mid-week rehearsal.
Details of the Scholarship
The post is worth £4,000 pa, paid in monthly instalments. The Organist will be entitled to six Sundays off annually: it is possible that the Director of Music at S. Silas will be able to cover some or all of these. There will an initial probation period of three months.
Other opportunities
In addition to the historically significant Bevington organ in Holy Trinity, the Organist will also have access to the newly installed Hauptwerk organ at S. Silas for practice and teaching (by arrangement with the Parish Priest). There will also be the opportunity to play for school masses at the parish school, which attract a separate fee.
To apply, please send your CV (including the names and contact details of two referees, one able to discuss musical abilities) and a covering letter to the Director of Music at S. Silas, Mr Peter Dutton (ssktmusic@gmail.com) , by 30th November 2021.
