The Peterborough School (TPS) is an Independent Day School delivering exceptional education and nurturing children from Nursery through to Sixth Form. The School is set in beautiful and historic grounds with excellent facilities, in the heart of Peterborough, benefitting from both superb transport links and our own secure car park.

The Peterborough School is seeking to appoint an ambitious, well-qualified and inspirational individual to join our team from September 2024, to contribute to the School's thriving music tradition within our Preparatory School. There is potential to develop the role with both curricular teaching and extra-curricular delivery in the Senior School. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and enhance the high standards of music teaching and musical activity on offer at The Peterborough School.

At The Peterborough School we have high standards and expectations, and we are interested in education in the fullest sense. Our curricular and extra-curricular programme, combined with excellent pastoral support, reflect our commitment to ensuring that our pupils benefit from a first-class education in a supportive setting. Music is a key strength of the School, with a wide range of opportunities for individual and ensemble performance, with an Orchestra, Chapel Choir and other choirs, and numerous other groups and bands. We pride ourselves on the quality of our individual music teaching. Lessons are available on all orchestral instruments, with over 100 individual lessons offered weekly.

The department has an excellent academic record at GCSE and A Level. Pupils sit Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall examinations each term with the majority achieving merits or distinctions.

The Music Department enjoys the use of a number of practice rooms and a classroom containing a full suite of computers equipped with the latest Sibelius software for use in composition and harmony classes.

The Peterborough School has a strong Christian foundation, and we are fortunate to have a Chapel to use for our concerts and events. A significant part of The Peterborough School music programme involves pupils participating in a number of public events in Cathedrals and other venues both locally and nationally.

All our staff are integral to our mission, inspiring the minds of our children, optimising their potential and challenging them both academically and holistically, whilst supporting each other to make that happen. Staff wellbeing is a key priority of our Governors and Senior Leadership Team and is promoted throughout the School.

We would love to hear from you if you have taken a look at our Person Specification and Job Description and you think you would like to learn more about us.

The School has its own salary scale, free school lunches and free on-site staff parking, as well as other perks, including a generous fee remission for children of teaching staff.
