Part-time Piano Teacher and School Accompanist
Required for April 2022
The Peterborough School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Piano and a skilled individual to accompany congregational music to contribute to the School's thriving musical tradition. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and enhance the high standards of music tuition and musical activity on offer at The Peterborough School.
Music is a key strength of the School, with a wide range of opportunities for individual and ensemble performance, with an Orchestra, Chapel Choir and other choirs, and numerous other groups and bands. We pride ourselves on the quality of our individual music teaching. Lessons are available on all orchestral instruments, with over 100 individual lessons offered weekly.
The department has an excellent academic record at GCSE and A Level. Pupils sit Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall examinations each term with the majority achieving merits or distinctions.
The Peterborough School has a strong Christian foundation, and we are fortunate to have a Chapel to use for our concerts and events. A significant part of The Peterborough School music programme involves pupils participating in a number of public events in Cathedrals and other venues both locally and nationally.
The Music Department enjoys the use of a number of practice rooms and a classroom containing a full suite of computers equipped with the latest Sibelius software for use in composition and harmony classes.
We offer a competitive remuneration package in a welcoming, friendly environment within a beautiful setting.
The Peterborough School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
