About the job

Required for September

Casual supply contract working term time only – 33 weeks per year

We wish to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic part-time Saxophone and Clarinet Teacher to join our thriving music department and skilled team of peripatetic instrumental teachers.

The Music department is vibrant, dynamic and highly successful, offering instrumental lessons to around 250 of our pupils aged 11 to 18.  Students achieved 100% A* to C at GCSE and 100% A to B grades at A-level on our 2019 Music results.  The instrumental team are integral to our success and as such we are looking for a candidate who can support the curriculum, up to A-level standard, through the instrumental teaching work they undertake. Many of our pupils take external instrumental exams up to grade 8.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished player with sound technique, and an inspirational teacher who is able to teach at least up to grade 8 on both clarinet and saxophone.  The work comprises around one day’s teaching (one to one). Training the school’s sax/clarinet ensemble is also an essential part of this post (weekly 30minute rehearsals). A relevant diploma (or higher) level performance or teaching qualification is desirable

The current post holder currently works 6 hours per week (including the Wind group rehearsal), although these hours may increase with further pupil uptake.

All applicants must ensure they complete a copy of the school's application form which forms part of their safer recruitment process.  CVs can be attached to the application form but not submitted on its own.  Applications can be submitted via recruitment@broxbourne.herts.sch.uk.

Closing date: 7th June (12 noon)

We are an Equal Opportunities employer.  The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All postholders are subject to employment checks and an enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
