With potential for some piano tuition at primary level
We wish to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic part-time Upper Strings teacher to join our thriving music department and skilled team of peripatetic instrumental teachers.
The Music department is vibrant, dynamic and highly successful, offering instrumental lessons to around 250 of our pupils aged 11 to 18. Students achieved 100% 4-9 at GCSE and 100% A to B grades at A-level (based on our 2019 Music results). The instrumental team are integral to our success and as such we are looking for a candidate who can support the curriculum, up to A-level standard, through the instrumental teaching work they undertake. Many of our pupils take external instrumental exams up to grade 8 and beyond.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished player with sound technique, who is able to teach at least up to grade 8. The work comprises mainly one to one tuition, with occasional paired lessons. Training the school’s successful string ensemble is also on the weekly timetable. A relevant diploma (or higher) level performance or teaching qualification is desirable. An ability to teach piano up to grade 5 is also desirable (but not essential), as the current post holder also undertakes some piano tuition at a local feeder primary school.
The current post holder currently has around two hours string teaching (excluding the feeder primary school work), however we would very much like to expand this provision.
An application pack is available from the school website or by email to recruitment@broxbourne.herts.sch.uk. Please apply by letter addressed to Ms Humphreys, Headteacher enclosing your application form, cv and quoting two referees.
Closing date: Wednesday 19th May
We are an Equal Opportunities employer. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are subject to employment checks and an enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
