About the job

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic academic Teacher of Music on a part-time basis from September 2022 for between 0.3 and 0.4 of a full timetable.

The successful candidate will teach Music in the senior school, principally at KS3 but with the possibility of GCSE classes too. Pianists are strongly advised to apply, as an ability to accompany would be an advantage. It is also expected that the candidate will be involved in a range of extra-curricular Music, which may include taking rehearsals, organising concerts, directing a choir or instrumental ensemble, accompanying for examinations and concerts, playing for assemblies and running aural and theory classes. The exact duties will be tailored to the strengths of the candidate.

As part of the interview process, all candidates will be required to teach an academic lesson. Preparation work in advance of the class lesson will be required, and details will be provided prior to interview.

We would welcome applications from experienced teachers and well-qualified graduates with no prior teaching experience, as well as teachers returning from a career break.

King’s is one of the most successful schools in the world, with outstanding academic results, first-class pastoral care and a vibrant co-curriculum.

Overlooking Wimbledon Common, the school is situated in one of the most attractive parts of south-east England and benefits from exceptional grounds and facilities.

Further details can be found at: www.kcs.org.uk
Closing date: 9am on Thursday 7th October 2021

Interview date: Wednesday 13th October 2021

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
