About the job

The Pimlico Musical Foundation look to appoint a Tenor and Bass Teacher-Singer to start in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Teacher-Singers teach the children, sing SATB in their choirs and take a central part in the running of the whole programme. They are all excellent singers, but their other talents enable them to be the energy behind the success of the whole organisation from all aspects.

The Teacher-Singers undertake a variety of roles across the PMF programmes.

The Teacher-Singers are responsible for the musical progress of the Foundation Scholars, as well as pastoral care. The main roles of the Teacher-Singers are as follows:

  • participating in a weekly Wednesday Evensong at St Gabriel’s Church during term time;
  • participation and engagement in termly twilight sessions;
  • teaching general musicianship (primarily to KS2): how to read, listen to and enjoy music;
  • training in choral techniques, such as sight-singing and singing with full voice and colour;
  • taking part in termly concerts in St Gabriel's Church, alongside extra concerts and services, and;
  • taking a proactive role in behaviour management and pastoral care of the Foundation Scholars.

in addition to this we are looking for Teacher-Singers who can lead in some the following areas:

  • choir leader / conductor (leading the Pimlico Children’s Choir)
  • piano accompanist or organist
  • instrumental teacher
  • animateur / in-schools group singing sessions
