About the job

Self-employed / Variable hours

Required for September 2024

STAHS is a vibrant school supported by a diverse and enthusiastic community of staff, pupils, parents and alumni. It is important that our staff reflect the diversity of our community, and we therefore welcome and encourage applications from people of all genders and sexual orientation, those from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds, and those with disabilities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly experienced teacher of lower brass (trombone, euphonium and tuba) to join our thriving Music Department on a self-employed basis. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high quality teaching to pupils from Year 3 to Year 13 on both the Prep and Senior School sites.

Pupil numbers are estimated to be between 10 and 13 next year so it is envisioned that the successful candidate would teach one day a week initially. However, the Music Department are keen to grow these numbers further through our bi-annual brass scheme at the Prep School as well as our Endangered Instrument Scheme at the Senior School and are therefore seeking a teacher committed to further developing our brass provision at the school.

If you are passionate about music and able to support, challenge and inspire our pupils whilst modelling our core School values this could be the perfect opportunity for you to join our friendly and welcoming school community.

To be successful in this role, you must have an excellent track-record of teaching and be a team-player, working within a busy and ambitious department.

This position is offered on a self-employed, sessional basis at a standard hourly rate of £48 per hour.

Details of the role and application process are available on the school’s website www.stahs.org.uk/vacancies

Closing date for applications: 9am Thursday 6 June 2024

Interview date: Thursday 13 June 2024

STAHS reserves the right to close the advert early if a suitable candidate is found, therefore early applications are encouraged.

The High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
