About the job

Starting February 2022 (or as soon thereafter)

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, committed and highly-skilled (VMT) Piano Teacher to join a first-class Music Department as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher with a passion for inspiring our youngest musicians to perform to the highest possible standard as well as being an active performer in their own right.

The appointment is in addition to the team of current VMTs. Currently, there are eight VMT piano teachers within the Music Department teaching over 100 pupils each week.

Visiting Music Teachers are recruited by the Headmistress and Director of Music. They are responsible to the Headmistress, via the Director of Music, in all matters relating to performance, ensembles, recruitment and pupil progress and the day-to-day management of their timetables.

Visiting Music Teachers are self-employed and invoice parents directly each term.

The rate is currently set at £53 per hour. Visiting Music Teachers are expected to communicate with parents to arrange lessons, organise payment and report on progress.

The Music Department is well resourced and, as such, there are many opportunities to support extra-curricular activities through additional group coaching and to accompany concerts and pupils at the direction of the Director of Music.
