About the job

Status: Self-employed

We are seeking a skilled vocalist with first-rate teaching and communication skills to join our team of self-employed Visiting Music Teachers from January, and to play a key role in developing our pupils’ musical talents and potential.

Experience of working with senior age groups, offering a range of genres and success in preparing students for grade examinations, will be advantageous.

We envisage being able offer 1.5 days’ worth of work in the first instance, depending on candidates’ availability, with a strong likelihood that this would increase to 2 full days. Additional musical opportunities may be available for the right candidates.

Music at Sydenham High School is vibrant, exciting and enjoying a renaissance. We aim to provide a platform for all our musicians to perform, be that as a soloist or as a member of one of our many ensembles. As well as the dedicated Music School, Sydenham High School has its own purpose-built Recital Hall with access to professional sound recording equipment. An adventurous and forward-looking programme of concerts and events is in place for each term, with pupils engaging regularly with professional musicians, as well as performing in professional venues outside the School.

Sydenham High School, established in 1887, is an independent day school for girls from 4-18 with over 660 pupils. The School is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the largest independent school group in the UK. It is at the forefront of education for girls and a strong voice in promoting opportunities for young women.
