The Twyford CE Academies Trust is a growing educational organisation comprising four secondary schools in West London - Twyford CE High School (1450 students), William Perkin CE High School (entering its seventh year), Ealing Fields High School (entering its fourth year) and Ada Lovelace CE High School (entering its second year with 250 students and currently co-located at William Perkin’s site). We are a Christian Trust whose schools have a wide-ranging diverse and inclusive intake. We have placed Singing Strategy at the heart of our ethos and have successfully built vocal practice, which ranges from traditional assembly singing to performance of more established pieces. Within the schools, there are also training chamber and gospel choirs. The role also provides opportunity to build vocal provision at the two newest schools.

We are looking for a dynamic and well qualified Vocal Coach / Choir Leader to provide vocal coaching and choir training to support the Singing Strategy of the Trust. The post will suit a confident Vocal Lead who is familiar with a range of vocal traditions including, for example, Choir Master, Répétiteur or Voice Coach with keyboard skills.

Responsibilities include delivering an engaging Singing Strategy for Years 7 & 8 across the Trust and planning / rehearsing Worship Music for Communions. The role can be part-time or full-time with weekly classes, rehearsals and assemblies, plus frequent worship services and performances.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in leading choirs and large vocal groups in a variety of genre
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Charismastic leadership of vocal groups
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ideally also a degree in Music or similar

The Twyford Trust

The Twyford Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation, which provides support for all Trust schools. The Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing – Twyford CE High School (Acton), William Perkin CE High School (Greenford), Ada Lovelace CE High School (Greenford) and Ealing Fields High School (South Ealing).

The Music College

Over 350 students receive instrumental tuition through the Music College (based at Twyford School), which comprises four full-time teachers of music, an administration team, musician-in-residence posts and sixteen instrumental tutors. Tuition is offered on voice, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar, drums, piano, keyboard and theory and instrumental tutors are a significant and valued part of the music college team. All are expected to contribute to the musical development of students through preparing them for entry to practical examinations through the ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool boards as well as GCSE and A-Level performance examinations. Tutors also contribute significantly to a wide programme of extra-curricular activities.
