The role will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the refreshed Music Leadership Team to deliver the singing strategy effectively.

The role will be expected to provide general singing support, guidance and advice to schools and taking a leading role in countywide singing activities and development opportunities.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Drive the implementation of the HMS singing strategy as well as other countywide projects including managing or contributing to large scale performing opportunities which celebrating singing.
  • Identify and develop partnerships, including with schools around the county in collaboration with Regional Managers to enhance the Hub’s vocal programme.
  • Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of the singing strategy in order to ensure it remains relevant and achievable.
  • Assist in the development of the HMS singing strategy with regard to recommendations from the National Plan for Music Education and other guidance and research reports.
  • Lead and develop singing provision across all age groups from Early Years settings to the Service’s county choir programme.
  • Develop and deliver a programme of CPD and support to both the HMS and school music teacher workforce and drive improvement in singing standards.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles in all vocal work, including genre and repertoire choices and by encouraging singing leaders from diverse backgrounds into the Service.
  • Manage and develop a team of singing teachers to ensure all teachers are clear on expectations of administration requirements for HMS and have been quality assured following the frameworks and processes set out by the Head of Instrumental Studies and Director of Music.
  • Assist with new teacher induction and provide ongoing subject matter expertise to all teachers to support them in delivering consistently high quality music lessons.
